The New Pet Rescue Mystery Series Has Begun!

BeaglemaniaBEAGLEMANIA is the first book in the new Pet Rescue Mystery Series, which is a spinoff from my Kendra Ballantyne, Pet-Sitter Mystery series, both from Berkley Prime Crime.  Of course both series stand alone, so you can read only one or the other--but I’d recommend that you read them both!  BTW, the Kendra books don’t have to be read in order--each also stands alone.

The Pet Rescue Mysteries feature Lauren Vancouver, who was introduced in two of the Kendra mysteries.  Lauren is the dedicated chief administrator of HotRescues, a private no-kill animal shelter in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley.

Lauren is in a situation that is relatively unique in the pet rescue community: she has all the funding she needs.  That doesn’t keep her from getting into situations that stir her deepest feelings.  In her first adventure, BEAGLEMANIA, Lauren is present when dogs are saved from a puppy mill.  That includes rescuing some beagle puppies that were tossed down a storm drain to hide them.  Emotions are heightened as the situation evolves, and someone gets murdered.  Lauren is the primary suspect, and she has to find the real killer to save herself.

The next Pet Rescue Mystery, THE MORE THE TERRIER, will be an October 2011 release.  It starts when Lauren discovers that her former mentor in pet rescue is an animal hoarder... which leads to another murder.

In the Pet Rescue Mysteries, “no-kill” means pets, not people!

I’ve enjoyed researching and writing the Pet Rescue Mysteries so much that I’ve started volunteering at a no-kill private animal shelter as a dog adoption counselor.  Plus, I’ve become the L.A. Pet Rescue Examiner for Examiner.com.

My Harlequin Nocturnes

Alaskan WolfSo far, there have been two books and one Nocturne Bites e-novella in my Alpha Force mini-series for Harlequin Nocturne.  Alpha Force is a very covert military unit composed of shapeshifters.  The most recent was ALASKAN WOLF, published in December 2010.

The next one, GUARDIAN WOLF, will be published in August 2011.  It’s about a female Alpha Force member who is also an MD.  She is assigned to a military hospital to determine how biohazardous wastes are being stolen--and the local doctor assigned to show her around is not only the man she loved and lost in college, but he, too, may be a shapeshifter!

“The Talons of the Hawk,” a Nocturne Bites, will be published in November 2011.  It, too, is about a female Alpha Force member.  She shifts into--what else?--a hawk.
